Repair & texture matching
Drywall repair that blends in
Small patches and remodel repairs, finished so the wall looks like it was never touched. Brandon considers complex texture matching an art form.
Repairs and patching
Big or small, they get the same care
Small repairs are some of the most common calls, and they deserve a careful hand. A bad patch is the thing you see every time you walk into the room.
- Small holes and dings, such as doorknob damage and anchor holes
- Cracks and failing tape or seams
- Cut-outs from electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work
- Openings left by removed doors, walls, or fixtures
- Patches and repairs during a remodel or renovation
- Touch-ups before listing, moving in, or painting
Texture matching
Matching what is already on your walls
Matching texture is where repair work is won or lost. A flat patch on a textured wall stands out at once, even after paint.
Brandon carefully examines your existing texture and works to reproduce it, including custom and hard-to-match finishes. It is part observation, part technique, and part patience.
A word on expectations: older and heavily worked textures can take extra effort, and the repaired area usually needs a fresh coat of paint to blend completely. Brandon will talk you through what to expect before he starts.

Textures Brandon works with
Do not know what yours is called? Send a photo. He can usually tell.
-
Orange peel
A fine, evenly dimpled spray texture that gets its name from the skin of an orange. Common on walls and ceilings in homes of many ages.
-
Knockdown
Texture is applied, then lightly flattened with a knife so the peaks soften into a mottled, relaxed pattern.
-
Skip trowel
A hand-applied texture with flattened, overlapping patches and a handcrafted look. No two walls are quite alike, which makes it a craft to match.
-
Knock and trowel
A hand-troweled variation that produces flattened ridges and a more sculpted surface than a standard knockdown.
-
Custom & unusual textures
Older homes and custom builds often have one-of-a-kind finishes. Brandon studies the existing pattern and works to reproduce it.
How a match comes together
Repair, texture, blend
-
Study the original
Brandon looks closely at the texture in the light: how heavy it is, how it is spaced, how it was applied, and how it has aged.
-
Repair the surface
The damaged area is patched and finished so the new work is solid and flat before any texture goes on.
-
Reproduce the texture
Texture is applied and worked to echo the existing pattern, adjusted by eye until it reads like the rest of the wall.
-
Blend and prime
The edges are feathered into the surrounding wall, and the repair is primed so it is ready to paint.
